Xavier Xavier University Wordmark
{{ NAME }},
It’s the best season of the year at Xavier. On May 14, we welcomed # new graduates into the Xavier alumni family. Armed with their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, these proud and successful alums are headed out to show the world the powerful difference that a Jesuit education can make. They have a bit of a tough act to follow. Our 2015 career outcomes survey shows Xavier’s overall job, grad school and volunteer placement rate is 96%. Employers tell us the number one thing they look at when hiring our graduates is their integrity and good judgment. Now that is proof of the power of liberal arts, Jesuit education. As we come to the end of another school year, my prayer is that all members of the Xavier family may find a chance to enjoy a little down time with family and friends to soak in the warm temperatures and slower pace of summer. Please know that you and those you love, are always in my prayers.
My name is Paul Gore, and I am honored to be the new dean of the College of Professional Sciences, one of the most diverse colleges with which I’ve ever been affiliated. We host over 18 schools, departments and centers, provide a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees and credentials, and are responsible for almost half of all the degrees granted at Xavier last year. Our success is due in part to:
  • Interprofessional education—In the interest of sharing knowledge about related professions, the College supports several collaborative efforts to bring students from different disciplines together in ways that mimic what they will experience in the workplace.
  • High-demand career preparation— Careers in the health professions, such as nursing and occupational therapy, demand intensive field training, as do careers in education, social services and mental health, and health care leadership.
  • Community-engaged learning and service—The College takes advantage of opportunities to engage with the community in special programs that bring professors and students together with elementary schools, community groups, and athletic programs among many others.
I am writing to you today to invite you to learn more about our goals and consider participating with the College in ways that will help ensure its continued success. To help us determine the best ways to keep you informed, we developed a brief survey about your experiences at Xavier and your interests in engaging with us at xavier.edu/engage.
Thanks for taking the time to let me introduce myself to you and for considering becoming a partner with the College of Professional Sciences. I know I speak for my faculty, staff and students in saying how excited we are to be so well-positioned to affect positive and systemic change in the lives of those we serve at Xavier and in our local and regional communities. We hope you will be a part of that change.
Sincerely,
